How to Use the Number Switcher in Business SMS
The Number Switcher allows users to easily switch between phone numbers that have been assigned or shared with their account. This feature is especially useful for organizations that manage multiple departments, locations, or business phone numbers from a single login.
When you switch numbers, the application reloads and displays conversations, contacts, and messages associated with the selected number.
Who Can Use the Number Switcher?
The Number Switcher is available to users who have access to more than one Business SMS number. Some account types may be limited to a single number and will not see this option.
Switching Between Numbers
- Log in to Business SMS.
- Locate the Number Switcher in the upper-left corner of the screen.
- Click the currently selected phone number.
- Select the desired phone number from the dropdown list.
- The application will reload and display data for the selected number.
What Changes When You Switch Numbers?
When you select a different number, Business SMS will display:
- Conversations associated with that number
- Contacts associated with that number
- Message history for that number
- Settings and features available to that number
This helps keep communications organized and ensures messages are sent from the correct business phone number.
Shared Numbers and Team Messaging
When multiple users share the same Business SMS number, each message is associated with the user who sent it.
This allows team members to identify who responded to a customer or patient.
Viewing the Message Sender
- Open the conversation.
- Locate the outbound message.
- Hover over the message status indicator (such as "Sent").
- The name of the user who sent the message will be displayed.
Performance Considerations
If you switch to a number with a large number of contacts or active conversations, the application may take a few moments to load.
During this process, Business SMS is downloading the conversation and contact data associated with that number.
Best Practices
- Verify the selected number before sending messages.
- Use separate numbers for different departments whenever possible.
- Confirm you are working from the correct number when responding to customers or patients.
- If multiple team members share a number, review message ownership when needed.
